Test Sieves
Test sieves are fundamental tools used to determine the particle-size distribution of aggregates, soils, concrete, asphalt mixtures and other bulk materials. The accuracy of sieve openings directly influences the reliability of test results and therefore the quality and safety of construction works.

Metrological activities for test sieves
- Calibration of test sieves: – woven wire cloth sieves in accordance with STN ISO 3310-1, – perforated metal plate sieves in accordance with STN ISO 3310-2, – electroformed sheet sieves in accordance with STN ISO 3310-3, – harp sieves in accordance with STN EN 933-3.
- Measurement of aperture size by direct measurement using length standards and optical methods; for woven wire cloth sieves also by the modern method of sieving test material from a mixture of glass beads.
- Verification of test sieves used as legally controlled measuring instruments in accordance with Annex No. 6 to Decree of ÚNMS SR No. 161/2019 Coll.
