Prestressing Devices for Prestressed Concrete

Prestressing (tensioning) devices are used to apply prestress to strands and bars in the production of prestressed concrete, bridges, beams and other prestressed structural elements. Correct prestressing force is critical for the load-bearing capacity, durability and safety of structures, which is why accurate calibration of these devices is essential.

Metrological activities for prestressing devices

  • Calibration of prestressing devices for 1-strand up to 19-strand systems used to apply prestress to reinforcement in the production of prestressed concrete and other prestressed elements.
  • Calibration in accordance with STN 99 4802 and STN 73 2401 in the prestressing force range from 20 kN to 5000 kN.
  • Determination of the calibration relationship between the required prestressing force and the reading on the operating pressure gauge of the prestressing device.
  • Use of reference electrical force transducers with ranges of 200 kN and 5000 kN, calibrated with a precision strain-gauge measuring amplifier.
  • Verification of prestressing devices used as legally controlled measuring instruments in accordance with Annex No. 41 to Decree of ÚNMS SR No. 161/2019 Coll.
